James Adams completed his third year on the WSU football staff in November 2007. He joined the Warrior football program in the fall of 2005 as an assistant offensive line coach and served the following year as an offensive assistant coach. He assisted on game days in 2007.

A native of Flint, Adams graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1997 and from Western Michigan University (WMU) in December 2002 with a bachelors of business administration with an emphasis in Integrated Supply Matrix Management (ISM2) and Engineering Management.

He began his coaching career in the summer of 2002 as a volunteer for the Flint Northern football camp focusing on weight training and conditioning. After graduating from WMU, Adams returned to the Flint Northern football program as a varsity assistant coach. He also worked with the junior varsity offensive and defensive linemen for two seasons.

Adams is married and resides in Auburn Hills, with his wife Candice, and daughters Kayla and Jada.
