Keith Uecker enters his third year as the offensive line coach at Wayne State University.
A 10-year (1982-1991) National Football League veteran, Uecker was named offensive line coach at Wayne State in January 2004 after serving in a similar capacity at the University of Akron the previous five seasons.
The top six members of his 2005 offensive line consisted of one senior, two juniors, a sophomore and two true freshmen. This group helped Chris Middlebrooks rush for over 1,000 yards.
Known for getting the most out of a young group, the Zips set school records in 2002 for total offense, passing yards and first downs with a group that had a combined 12 starts entering the campaign.
During his college career, Uecker was one of the most dominating offensive linemen in Auburn history. A four-year starter and team captain for Pat Dye's inaugural 1981 season, Uecker earned All-Southeastern Conference and All-America honors his senior year. He played in both the Blue-Gray and Senior Bowl all-star games and was presented Auburn's Ken Rice Award as a junior and a senior, given each year to the outstanding offensive lineman.
Uecker, 46, began his NFL career in Denver and spent from 1982 to 1984 with the Broncos. Following the 1984 campaign, he joined the Green Bay Packers where his career blossomed. He was a four-year starter for the Pack, playing all five offensive line positions and was honored with the Ed Block Courage Award in 1987 after returning from an injury-riddled 1986 season to regain his starting job.
He received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Auburn in 1988 and has also worked in real estate investment and development.
Uecker has four children, Victoria, Jack, Clayton and Jane.
