DETROIT - Wayne State freshman defenseman Ryan Adams (Deloraine, Man./Fargo-Moorhead Jets) has been selected to the College Hockey America All-Rookie Team. He joins Jeff Caister (2006-07) as the only blueliners in WSU history to earn the honor.
Adams totaled seven points (one goal, six assists) this season, all in conference games. He is tied for 18th in scoring overall among league defensemen and tied for 12th among freshmen. In terms of conference scoring only, however, he is tied for 12th among blueliners and ninth among rookies.
He registered five of his seven points over the last six games, including his first multiple-point performance Feb. 16 at Alabama-Huntsville, where he assisted on the game-winner and scored an empty-net goal, the first tally of his career.
Adams has posted a plus/minus rating of even or better in 19 games and has been assessed just six penalties all year, third-fewest on the squad among players who have appeared in 30 or more games.
The Warriors will head to the College Hockey America Tournament next weekend at Niagara and face Alabama-Huntsville in the quarterfinal on Friday, March 14 at 7:05 p.m. ET. Fans can listen to the game on Teamline streaming audio or watch the webcast via B2 Networks.
